Important Lessons

Our Yosemite episode taught us that adventure is never just about showing up with a camera and a plan. It is about preparation, adaptability, and learning from the moments where reality does not match what you imagined.

Going into Yosemite, we drastically underestimated the physical difficulty of the trip. The trails, elevation, long days, and constant movement challenged us in ways we were not fully prepared for. It became a reminder that fitness is not separate from adventure filmmaking, it is part of the craft. If we want to tell stories in wild places, we have to build the endurance, strength, and discipline to actually reach them.

We also learned the importance of being prepared creatively. Since drones are not allowed in national parks, we had to think outside the box to capture the scale and geography of Yosemite. That led us to incorporate Google Earth as a creative substitute for aerial drone shots, helping us show the landscape from a wider perspective while still respecting park rules. It pushed us to problem-solve instead of seeing limitations as dead ends.

Yosemite became a lesson in what Trail x Error is really about: learning through the mistakes, adapting along the way, and becoming better storytellers, adventurers, and stewards of the places we explore.
